The starting of the Grid for the 1948
Grand Prix qualifying race. |
"The Glen," as we like to call it has it's mark of racing all over the village, and appears to embrase being a part of racing history. I have watched on T.V., racing at the Glen, but I never imagined the appreciation I would feel for the village, and the people that kept racing alive in this place. The past is everywhere. The Start/Finish is still marked on the street in front of the court house, and Watkins Glen holds a historical race every year, on the old track, to honor racing in the village as it first was. Vistitors to the village can walk the streets, looking down to see granite blocks laid in the sidewalks foundation, honoring drivers that have made their mark in the history of Watkins Glen racing.

Look over my shoulder,
it's the Start/Finish Line. |

Starting at the Start/Finish Line,
we drove the historical course. |
