Crossing

The Mackinac Bridge, the only route through Michigan to it's Upper Peninsula, crosses over Lake Michigan (on the right), and Lake Huron (on the left). The Brooklyn Bridge was dedicated in 1883, and encouraged Mackinac Bridge dreamers to continue designing their bridge. Before the bridge was built, open to traffic in 1957, people would cross the frozen lakes by car then ferry services were offered, cars would wait up to 8 hours to board the ferry. How would you like to do that every day after work? Due to waiting in lines, gas stations would make their hoses much longer so they could reach all the cars that needed gas while in line for the ferry. Today Mackinac is the 3rd longest suspension bridge in the world.
After crossing the bridge we went and checked out the Bridge overlook where I got to see my taunting friends...the Gulls...it's so sweet, Chris still tries to calm me down and tell me its fine, when obviously I am freaking out. We continue to laugh at my fear of birds, and my love of watching them from a distance. Below I am demonstrating a dramatic reaction to the birds of Mackinac Bridge.
