We just happened to be in the Salinas area and drove by to see Steinbeck's house. Chris and I both read Travels with Charlie: In Search of America on our trip. At the beginning of our trip an acquaintance at the Seneca Lodge in New York (refer to Watkins Glen post) told us how much he enjoyed it so I picked up an old copy of it at a used book store. The book was perfect for our trip.
