Route 66

 

What better way to head home than on Route 66. Leaving Flagstaff we hopped on board. The new Route 66 in today's age is I-40 but we found a website that actually tells you the dirt, gravel, and old paved roads that are the real Route 66. Following the original has proved to be a challenge being all the roads aren't marked but it has been fun finding the original roads and knowing we are driving on the road that so many people have traveled over for many generations full of dreams, in search of opportunity.

 Leaving San Diego we took HWY8 that runs along the Mexican border.

The Surfliner in Del Mar

We camped in a free meter spot one night in Del Mar this train passed by at least three or four times through the night and throughout the next morning. The Surfliner can spotted in many towns that line the Pacific coast.

Some of you might realize how AWESOME it was for us to see Franti!! One of those things that we have talked about for so long...seeing Franti in Cali. All SMILES we did it!!
